WMU

Woman's Missionary Union

The Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) of the First Baptist Church of West Jefferson is an organization of women who meet once a month to support missions both locally and globally. Besides providing assistance when a specific need is known, the WMU supports all of the ministry partners of the church as well as other ministries in the community with both time and money. In addition, WMU works closely with the schools in the county to help meet student needs not covered by school budgets. The WMU provides a meal or food gift card for the members of the family when a church member or a close relative of a church member passes away, and WMU members provide desserts each week for Camp New Hope, a local retreat for families with seriously ill children. Traditionally WMU has had a strong emphasis on Foreign Missions and our organization continues this with support of prayer and offerings for missionaries both nationally and internationally. Currently the WMU meets at 2 pm on the third Thursday of each month.
